Howdy Folks!

Did I ever tell you the one about…

The Californian bicycling the PCH 1?

About the time I was nearing Big Sur, I approached a person riding his bicycle along the same route I was motorcycling. 2 wheels are 2 wheels. Doesn’t matter pedal or motor powered to me.

I have a passion for bicycles too, as I used to mountain bike & raced in most all the Touring Cyclist races across Missouri’s Parks.

When I used to train for mountain bike races, I’d also put in long hours of flats & hill repeats riding paved roads. It helped in preparing for the off-road races. I can only imagine how cool it would have been to, both, mountain bike train & race in the California mountains & road train along the PCH 1.

Anyway, I kept passing him, would stop for a bit to take it all in & he’d catch up to me. If you look closely, he has an orange top on & is pictured on the road, just to the right of the bridge. I thought, the PCH 1 isn’t being wasted on him, nor, being taken for granted.

I rested here for awhile, just taking in the view & took this picture. I decided to have a small meal, feet dangling off the cliff edge, resting, relaxing, taking a break from riding for awhile. I was just Getting Lost gazing at this stunning visual for about an hour before continuing on.

I thought again how thankful I was for turning around that first day & staying at that motel in Oceanside, avoiding the Pacific Coast fog.

The PCF usually came in anywhere between 5 & 9 when the temps & currents began to shift. So, I’d find a place along the PCH 1 to find a place to camp, a motel or a B&B before the fog rolled in.

It all depended on my mood where I’d decide to rest my head for the eve. Sometimes I’d even head East, inland, to find lodging & explore small towns.

Then, in the morning when I’d wake, the PCF was there to greet me. It would last until mid to late morning when it would burn off, revealing crystal clear skies to accent the amazing landscape like pictured above.

The PCH adventure thus far was nothing short of fabulously fantastic!

Peace & Love, Awaken, until next time…
